DEED (Delhi Empowerment through Entrepreneurship and Development) is a socially-oriented initiative aimed at improving financial literacy and fostering entrepreneurship among homemakers hailing from the underserved areas in Delhi.Â
As the first step, DEED will carry out a survey amongst the community members to find out about their current financial obstacles, learn about their scope of awareness and access to banking and investment services, and readiness to engage in entrepreneurial activities. Then, taking into account the results of the survey, the project will work towards creating affordable educational materials on topics such as savings and investments, financial planning, and financial instruments. These will be supplemented by expert-led seminars on finance and the basics of small business management to help the women establish new businesses or expand existing ventures.
The DEED project is also concerned about turning financial literacy into practical business ventures. In order to achieve this objective, the project will be spearheading research and publishing comments on the various successful models of female participation in the economy within the Global South. And the project will raise funds to collate the seed money for the women entrepreneurs to achieve financial stability, procure equipment, and expand their ventures.
